Logo for NXNE Toronto Music Festival 2011North by Northeast is almost here and Toronto Music Scene has two wristbands to give away to the unofficial kick off to summer!  NXNE runs from June 13-19 and features over 650 bands spread across 50 venues, not to mention a plethora of BBQs, musicians littered everywhere, 4 a.m. last calls, incredible films, music that never ends and nights you’ll never forget/remember.  Yeah, this time of year is definitely dear to our little hearts here at TMS!
 
To enter, simply tweet “Hey @TorontoMusic you should send me to @NXNEfest because I’m dying to see @_______” and tell us your top festival picks.  We will notify  the winner via Twitter on the 12th and will arrange to give you the passes after.  If you’re not lucky enough to win, have no fear.  Wristbands start at $25 with discounted priority pass and package deals available to students.

Stylus DJ Awards 2011 Pioneer HP Toronto Music Scene has two passes to give away to the 2011 Stylus DJ Awards presented by HP this Monday, May 30th @ the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.  The Stylus Awards represent the best of Canada’s beat makers, the DJs who seduce us into long nights on the dance floor and the artists who sing the songs that keep us there.  Nominees include everyone from Deadmau5 to Drake, so get your glow sticks, neon threads and dancing shoes ready!

Band pic of Toronto band the3 Artist Life Toronto’s The Artist Life are currently on tour with California punk  legends Face To Face and Strung Out and TMS is stoked to give one lucky winner two passes to see this punk rock extravaganza at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on May 12th.

Toronto Music Scene is hooking one lucky reader up with a pair of tickets to the Rockstar Hotel @ The Spoke Club this Friday March 24 in honour of the Juno’s 40th birthday and HP’s  new TouchPad.  The event features impromptu celeb jam sessions, a performance by Shotley Crue and, did we forget to mention, signature cocktails!

 

The event is part of HP’s partnership with Dr. Dre and producer Jimmy Iovine and will be showcasing their Beats Audio platform – technology designed to redefine digital music playback for a brand new listening experience and featured on the HP TouchPad

Canada’s most famous collective have created perhaps some of the most beautiful, abstract, haunting pieces to date, including vocals from all the favourites: Jason Collett, Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Fiest, Emily Haines, Charles Spearin, Amy Millan and the rest.  If we didn’t suffer from a hefty guilt complex, we would hide this record from all of you and keep it to ourselves.
