Sound 4/5

Fuss play a power-heavy breed of indie rock with an obvious emphasis on loudness. The three-piece band filled little Cherry Cola’s with enough sound to wake those sleeping on the other end of Bathhurst. They tore through their power-chord laden set and wasted little time cementing their penchant for hooky harmonies, complex breakdowns and powerful song writing.

Sound 4/5

60’s surfer boy rock meets cowboy swagger, with a pinch of Jagger funk thrown in. I really enjoyed the sound. However, the vocals were a bit imbalanced. Two singers; one very steady solid voice, the other seems to camp it up and make some funny noises. When they sang together it was really good. Excellent musicianship, they all play their instruments really well.

Performance 4/5

I liked their performance for the most part; they are an excellent live band. Dancing and just really enjoying the moment. However, the antics of the one singer were quite distracting. Lots of wide-eyed looks and open-mouth face making. Then they surprised me, they brought drummer to use brushes on an acoustic guitar and then small snare. A gimmick that really worked, the layering on that song was one of my favourites of the night.

Sound 4/5

The first song was uncomfortably loud, but it’s metal so they’re doing their jobs. The next few songs completely made up for rocky beginnings. The second track really showcased the front man’s impressive vocal range. The drummer was a powerhouse and proved to be very skillful. I was impressed

Performance 5 /5

I wasn’t sure I was going to love them, their first song was a little overwhelming, by the second song that all changed and found myself completely enthralled. They are super energetic and completely engaging. I was also really impressed by their multi-talented keyboardist. He truly surpassed proficiency on all counts.

Sound 5/5:

Filter/Tool/Misfits-ey butt-clenching, groin-thrusting real rock and roll. Incredible vocal control oscillating from harridan-like screeching to a rumbling growl.

Performance 5/5

Catchy, anthemic songs that got the crowd off their asses quick. The frontman leapt around with aplomb, joking with the crowd at intervals and swigging beer the next. They delivered a hard and heavy performance that demanded attention.

Great beat! Perfect way to start the set. First song was bouncy and fun. Very danceable! I loved it! All of their music made me want to dance and cheer for more! Acoustic on the last song was intense and was like pure ear seduction.

Performance 5/5

Often bands lose the audience when transitioning into their next song, but this band kept the beat and they all look like they are having a great time. The audience mirrored their enthusiasm.

Sound 3.9/5

Generic, early 90’s alternative sound, vocals off key at times. Tight instrumentals, sure-footed bass lines and capable guitar, but vocals were pedestrian at times.

Performance 3.6/5

Affected atmospheric moodiness, polite asides with the sound tech, sizeable throng of young female admirers summoning occasional whoops and swaying.

Sound 5 /5

Folky and delicious. A beautiful musical treat. The band kind of sounds like the lead singer of Coldplay joined Mumford and Sons. Satisfying ambient. Very pleasing. I found them to be very easy to listen to.

Performance 4/5

Lead singer Jon Matte doubles as the trumpet player making for an intimate and enjoyable show. He begins one of the songs with a lovely Latin riff on the trumpet. Their performance is inviting, making you want to get closer and the feel was mutual amongst the audience. It was wonderfully crowded.
