Marshall Dane

Toronto Band Marshall Dane

Acoustic / Country / Pop

Toronto Band Marshall DaneCountry rocker Marshall Dane gives a tip of the hat to his family’s Country Music roots with a little 2:19 Western Swing tongue-in-cheek don’t-try-this-at-home-kids snappy little number with the seemingly innocent title of Christmas Eve For Two. Ah yes, sounds like a cozy little cuddle-up kinda thing, but inside lurks the mischievous sense of humour that peppered his previous singles Love & Alcohol and Bad Choices. From the “numb fingers” opener to the “turn out the lights” closing line, it’s the most fun you’ll have with your Christmas jammies still on. Since his “Big Break” on July 1, 2009, Marshall has performed with Alan Jackson, Emerson Drive, Michelle Wright, Shane Yellowbird, Jason Blaine, Dean Brody, Chad Brownlee, Alex J. Robinson, Jim Cuddy, and Gord Downie. He has also been signed to The Agency Group on Nick Meinema’s roster. Brian Allen produced and Jason Barry engineered the new album “Running Stop Signs”. Marshall co-wrote many of the tracks with great writers such as Paul Brandt, Jason Matthews, and Dan Murph. Now headlining festivals on his own, Marshall has won friends with radio stations and their listeners across Canada via his debut single “Love and Alcohol” along with his second single “Bad Choices”. Brought up in St. Catharines, Ontario, in a devout household of 7 children, this GM town boy quickly realized a passion for music and the personal salvation it would bring. He left a secure corporate job for the life of a musical entrepreneur, intent on his goal – the world stage. If the successes of this past year are any indication of where Marshall Dane is heading – the world stage is not far away

Rock

TimeGiant1Lead singer Tyrone Buccione and guitarist Ryan Watson met in college where they spent more time in a dingy residence kitchen recording shitty songs on cell phones than going to class. A few years later they met up with bassist Pat Wilken and Taso Pavlou and decided to give the whole rock and roll thing a try.

Never boring, this colourful group gets their musical hard ons from four different genres. I.E. Each stranded on a desert island would chose to be part of the following tribute band: Ryan, barefoot as a beach boy would be Les Paul-smoking Ace Frehley from Kiss, Pat, Raging Like a Machine, would be the bass-welding mysterioso John Paul Jones, Taso, wrapped in a greek gyros with Kalamata olives would drum to Afieromeno by Nikos Kourkoulis, and Tyrone, guitar in hand, would Have A Cigar with Freddy Mercury.

TIMEGIANT has been on many “makeshift tours” playing at venues like “menonite nursing homes” for 5 guys and their moms opening for the likes of 10 year old Whiplash, the best of America’s Got Talent and a children’s jamboree festival. They’ve also been on a few decent tours with 80s rock band HELIX and the up and coming “Domenica”. They’ve sold over 2,000 copies of their EP, “TIME” while maintaining shitty minimum wage jobs in the picturesque city of Windsor, Ontario.

This foursome has played over 200+ Canadian shows with good people like Theory of a Deadman, the Trews, Priestess, Collective Soul, Fozzy, David Wilcox and Ray Manzarek and Robbey Kreiger from The Doors. This past spring TIMEGIANT moved their gear to the big city of Toronto in the hopes of playing more music and washing fewer dishes. They are currently recording their third album to be released in January 2012.

Christian D and the Hangovers

Christian D and the Hangovers

Psychobilly

Christian D and the HangoversFrom the Rawk music collective of Toronto’s psychobilly nightlife comes a full-force, cow-punk movement known as Christian D & the Hangovers. The Hangovers kick their own brand of artfully crafted rockabilly into full overdrive when they hit the stage or studio, beating up every eardrum and instrument in their path. Drinking meets death (as they often do) and hillbilly meets downtown in a sonic party where lyrical loose women are the cheerleaders. You’ll boogie, you’ll laugh, you’ll fear, and if you’re lucky, you won’t remember a thing the next day!”

It’s high octane, beer drinkin’, fast livin’ rock’n’ roll with enough rockabilly slapping and punk rock rebellion to keep the house jumping.

Sounds KInda like Eddie Cochran and Joe Stummer having a kinife fight at Johnny Cash’s house.

March Forth

Toronto Band March Forth

Alternative / Garage Rock / Rock

Toronto Band March ForthMarch Forth formed in August 2010 as a rap-rock band. However, after developing their musical tastes, influences, and chemistry as a band, they decided to change their genre to a style that better represented their tastes. The band members consist of Anthony D’Elia (Vocals), Eddie C. Lanes (Lead Guitar), Moiez Ismail (Bass), and Matthias Balaban (Drums).

March Forth now performs music that mixes influences from classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Aerosmith, and incorporate it into modern/alternative rock to create a sound that adds a breath of fresh air to today’s rock music by bringing it back to its roots; yet still sounding relevant.

The band’s astounding drums, bass grooves, guitar riffs, and solo’s, come together with powerful vocals and catchy melodies to create an energetic live show that will have you singing along and jumping up onto your feet!

Previously the band has performed all around Toronto and the GTA for various festivals, fairs, and concerts such as Canadian Music Week 2011, the UNITY Festival at Yonge-Dundas Square, Markham Fair, OCAD University’s Orientation Week, York University, University of Toronto, The MOD Club, Lee’s Palace, and many more.

Bloody Five, The

Toronto Band The Bloody Five

Rock

Toronto Band The Bloody FiveFormed in 2009, The Bloody Five are 70’s 80’s and 90’s babies with a mutual passion for creating music and building on each other’s imagination. The band’s multi-generational make-up and fusion of relative influences drive their mission to brew a magical mystery potion for the ears.

Tomi Fear and KD were inspired to write tunes while jamming in Claremont, Ontario with “The Vinyl Knights”, a blues brotherhood who was extremely fortunate to count the late great Big Daddy G among their numbers on many occasion. Vinyl night still remains a much anticipated weekly ritual.

Chris “Knows” Hau, a man with many talents, adds his amazing energy apparent both in his ongoing solo acoustic project and The Bloody Five’s group dynamic in which his bass licks – and onstage acrobatics – are a driving force.

Robby “Raw Beats” Sedran rounds out the band with his uncanny ability to define the groove using inovative fills and his double bass pedal. He speaks softly but carries powerful sticks.

In 2010, The Bloody Five released their first EP, Bedroom Music, which was well received by fans and given positive reviews. The band worked hard to manage and promote itself and collaborate with different people also yearning to express their artisitic passion in different ways.

The band has performed at several venues including TK’s (Aurora), The Drake Hotel, The Central (as a nominee for the Toronto Independent Music Awards), The Rockpile, The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, Reggie’s Bar (Montreal), The Bovine Sex Club (Envol Et Macadam finals), The Hideout (for Canadian Music Fest and NXNE showcases), The Hardluck Bar, Dundas Square, Less Than Level (Oakville), Theatre Aurora, The Corktown Pub (Hamilton) for the Y108 Spring Music Fest,  Hollywood on the Queensway (Roundtable / Indie Love Radio Showcase), Velvet Underground, and Rancho Relaxo (Indie Machine / Indie Love Radio Showcase).

Two songs from the first EP have been selected for compilations and most tracks have also been remixed as electronica thanks to Jacob Hipel of Basement Love. Songs from the first EP are on rotation at Humber Radio and CFMU (McMaster) and the track, “Never Again”, has been included in the Rock Band 3 video game.

The band is excited to release a full length album, single, and music video early in 2012. The entire album is produced and engineered by Derek Hoffman, singer from Brighter Brightest, one of the bands recently featured on Much Music’s Discovered.

The first single, (I Wanna Go To) New York City is the band’s rendition of a punk classic by The Demics. This track was mixed by Brian Moncarz. The band travelled to New York City in the summer of 2011 to shoot a video for the song with the help of Kevin McLaughlin, owner of Autoshare, Chris Nelson and videographer, Martin Wojtunik. CBGB’s and The Ramones will be part of the video somehow.

The album was mastered by Joao Carvalho at his very special mastering space in downtown Toronto.

Stay tuned!

Hybridly Rude - Super Bobbie

Hybridly Rude - Super BobbieNovember 23, 2011

Proving that in today’s world of technology you no longer need big budgets and label support, Toronto electronica artist Hybridly Rude filmed the video for “Super Bobbie” with the surprising low budget of $200.

The infectious dance track has a very grindhouse feel to it featuring stock footage of  burlesque strippers from the 60’s.  Check out what a few hundred dollars, some DIY attitude and a little creativity can get you.
