The first time I saw Marshall Dane I was absolutely blown away. Even though I am not a fan of country, the raw talent, musicianship and energy of both Marshall and his backing band made me an instant fan. Marshall Dane tells us more on what to expect from him at CMW.
Doing Fantastic!….Finished recording full album Running Stop Signs January 2010. First single, "Love and Alcohol" is just out at country radio across Canada! Available on i-Tunes March 16th!
There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?
Canada’s latest breakthrough country star, Marshall Dane, is also the hardest working musician in town. At age 22 this renegade artist gambled it all on building a career making music and steadfastly made it happen, earning a living as a solo performer, financing two independent albums, and hovering just under the radar as he won awards and gained acclaim at independent music festivals. In 2009 Marshall kicked the door open when he won Country 95.3 FMs Big Break competition and blew audiences away with his infectious live show opening up for Emerson Drive. Two exceptional things for an unsigned artist happened next. First, Marshall was immediately signed by Nick Meinema of The Agency Group. Second, requests started pouring in for the winning demo ‘This Rain’, leading Country 95.3 PD Derm Carnduff to put the song into regular rotation. Marshall took his country soul mixed with rock’n’roll vibe down to Tennessee and began writing songs with Nashville hit makers Kris Bergsnes (Tim McGraw, Emerson Drive, Diamond Rio) and Dan Murph (Randy Travis, Sammy Kershaw) as well as Canadian superstar Paul Brandt. The result is his forthcoming album, Running Stop Signs due out June 2010, kicking off with his first single ‘Love & Alcohol’ which embodies the reckless swagger yet humble blue collared appeal of the artist himself. As he prepares for an upcoming Canadian tour, Marshall Dane is looking forward to continuing the journey from the city streets that welcomed him in their clubs to the big stage opening for Alan Jackson this July 2010.
