CMW Preview: Afterparty

Toronto Band Afterparty By: Sheena Lyonnais
March 10, 2009

A little bit Dragonette, a little bit Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Toronto’s Afterparty are definitely ready to heat things up at CMW this week.  The dance rock outfit boasts gritty attitudes with impressive support, as their upcoming debut album features tracks mixed by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Silversun Pickups) and Mark Needham (The Killers, Blondie).  Vocalist Kristina B tells us more.

How are you doing and where are you right now?
We are in a van on the road to play a show in Montreal! Mmmm, poutine…
There are a lot of bands playing CMW, why should I watch yours?
Because we are the loudest. And far and away the best looking.
What are you doing to prepare for CMW?
Pep talks in the mirror.
What are you hoping to get out of the festival?
Slash’s phone number.
Tell me a tour story that is crazy but true.
We were playing shows in NYC earlier this winter. Juan, our guitarist, decided to cross the border with the other Toronto band we were touring with. Sadly, that other band got turned back at the border, along with poor Juan. Boy we miss Juan.
What are you/your band working on at the moment?
Have you seen Juan? Where is Juan? But seriously, our debut album The Army You Got will be released on March 30, 2010 on Sound of Pop Records. In stores everywhere!!!
Any last parting words for us music-hungry Toronto folk?
More flannel!
