Sunlit Ambush

 Rock / Rock / Rock

Band Pic of Sunlit Ambush Formed in 2003, sort of, in the rural wasteland of Lindsay, Ontario, by co-bandleaders Colin Crowley and Aj Perry, who both share guitar, vocal and songwriting duties. After a few shows and appearances on local indie Dogbus, Colin and Aj moved to Toronto and reinvented the group with drummer Jeremy Drury and bassist Drew Adams. The sound moved from dissonant, spacey basement scribblings with potential into more propulsive and song-based guitar rock.

Sunlit Ambush then hooked up with producer/engineer Mike 'Dull' Langford (Sloan, Evans Blue), who helped them make their debut album without the help of a label or management. It took almost a year to make, with a few overnight sessions at The Pocket Studios in Toronto, but by winter 2006 it was finished. An advance single featuring 'Diesel Breath' and 'Seper's Rate' was circulated around, and got the attention of Indivisual, who were looking for an unsigned band to star on an episode of their newest show, 'Punched Up'.

Using the earnings from their brief acting careers, the band proceeded with getting their record out, with finishing touches and tweaks overseen by Joao Carvalho (Death From Above 1979, Sam Roberts, Alexisonfire). Invention Of Water is now available at the band's shows, a collection of 10 songs about living in obscurity, putting things off, girls, drugs, love and teeth, all wrapped up in loud guitars and the dual and distinct vocals of Perry and Crowley.

Currently the band is playing all over Ontario, sometimes with good friends Touch Me Airborne Plague. 'Juna' is the current song being serviced to radio, and a wider-scale Canadian tour is in the works for late summer.
